Acura EGR Valve
Way back in 1972 GM started using EGR Valves to reduce NOx emissions in most petrol/gasoline/diesel engines. The Exhaust Gas Regulation or Exhaust Gas Recirculation is NOx emission reduction technique. Earlier the Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) was termed as Recirculated Exhaust Gas (REG). The Acura EGR valve is sheltered on your Acura's intake manifold allowing excess exhaust gases back into the cylinders, to lower the combustion temperature. Whether you have a family sedan or a high performance job, Acura EGR valve always remains to be an intrinsic section of an Acura engine's emission & ignition systems.
When the combustion temperature rises to 2500 degrees Fahrenheit, it cause Nitrogen gas to diffuse in air resulting into byproducts.....Nitrous oxide & Nitrogen dioxide. Further when Nitrogen dioxide is mixed with compounds like hydrocarbons in a strong sunny weather gives birth to a photochemical smog (pollutant).
Theoretically, a proper running Acura EGR valve can increase the efficiency of gasoline engines via several mechanisms like:
- Reduced throttling losses.
- Reduced heat rejection.
- Reduced chemical dissociation.
An engine's efficiency is affected by the Acura EGR valve and depends on the design of an engine which leads to a compromise between efficiency of the engine and NOx emissions.
Acura EGR valve, irrespective of the construction reduces the unwanted engine emissions along with the engine knocks. So, you need to take care of a fact that you must go for an application specific Acura EGR valve as per the demand of your ACURA. Acura EGR valve supports your Acura to meet the emission testing standard and may block the EGR passages in the cylinder head & intake manifold with carbon deposits. Acura EGR valve is not meant for high loads as it results a reduced peak power output. Generally, Acura EGR valve is put at idle (low-speed, zero load) to reduce unstable fuel combustion.
For a high performing Acura engine, it is essential to always check, maintain and take good care of all components. The valve train components when synchronizes with the camshaft then the valves in the cylinder head let the Acura engine breathe.
There are million different types of Acura EGR valves like the one which work strictly on vacuum, and others work on a combination of vacuum and pressure. Earlier cars had mechanically controlled EGR Valve where as nearly all later models have electronically controlled EGR Valve.
Significant reduction in the level of smog as well as emission of Nitrous oxides results to a cleaner and safer environment. Today all the branded manufacturers had come up with a unique idea of putting an electronic engine control computers, multiple control inputs, & servo-driven EGR valves in a car mere to improve performance and efficiency without any loss in driving ability/ comfort.
