Today the Dodge Charger 2007 available in the market has an eventful history dating back to 1960s when it was first introduced. Originally a two door muscle car the Charger underwent numerous changes. In various periods of history the muscle car was sometimes a show car, a hatchback and a concept car. The 2007 Dodge Charger
is a four door and rear wheel driven sedan. It is available in the price range of $22,500 to $35500 giving a mileage of 17 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. For a large car the Dodge Charger
promises good mileage and value for money.
The Dodge Charger of today is a pot pouring of various features it has borrowed from its predecessors. It has Chrysler 300’s LX platform, interior similar to Dodge Magnum and chassis and transmission system of Mercedes E Class. The steering wheel is borrowed from the 60’s model.
Five different types of Dodge Charger models
are available - SE, SXT, R/T, Daytona R/T and SRT8. The SE and SXT model are fitted with a 250 Hp 3.5 liter EGJ V6 engine while the R/T and Daytona R/T sport a 340 Hp 5.7 liter Hemi V8 engine. The SRT8 model is equipped with 425 Hp 6.1 liter Hemi V8 engine. The difference in these models is in the engine size only. Rest all features like 5 speed automatic suspension, multi stage air bags and self sealing tires are common to all Charger car models
. But SRT8, the fastest of the Charger family, is a performance car having better suspension and brakes with updating in exterior and interior features.
The large size of the Charger
, it is larger than a medium sized sedan, does make it a bit clumsy. But overall it gives a comfortable ride to the passenger. Once you get used to handling the Charger it can become a strong, sturdy and powerful car for the whole family.
Different versions of Dodge
Charger also came into the market.
- Super Bee Version: This version of Charger was first introduced in New York International Auto Show in 2006. The Charger car model went into commercial production and hit the markets in 2007. Only 1000 pieces of this vehicle were produced. The Super Bee was painted yellow and sported a 425Hp, 6.1 liter hemi engine similar to SRT8. A blue version of the Super Bee was displayed at the North American Auto Show (2007). This will come into the markets by 2008.
- NASCAR (National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing): The 2005 and 2006 dodge cars company that appeared in NASCAR owe their design to Dodge Charger instead of Dodge Intrepid that was used before. In 2007 NASCAR Dodge Charger is slotted to participate in the non Cars of Tomorrow races.
- Police Package Version: The police version of Dodge Charger made it first appearance in New York International Auto Show in 2005.This vehicle has been equipped with all features to suit the requirements of the police force. Its 340 Hp Hemi V8 engine can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 6 sec. It can also attain a maximum speed of about 150 mph easily. There is also a provision for mounting police radio equipment, radio and computers in the vehicle. Various up gradations have been made in brakes, steering, and gear shifter to suit the police requirements. The Dodge Charger has been adopted not only by the American police but also by other police forces in the world including Canada Mexico and Bahrain.
