All About Dodge Neon
The Dodge Neon is a product from the renowned Chrysler Corporation. It is also known as “Chrysler Neon”. The
Dodge Neon is a Compact front wheel drive sedan. It was introduced in January, 1994. The first generation Neon or the very first model of the Dodge
Neon was on the road during the period from 1994 to 1999.
The engine used for this
car model came in two types the 132 hp or the 150hp model and was available in the form of a 2 door coupe or a four door sedan. The car was marketed in the United States as a Plymouth or a Dodge and as Chrysler Neon outside the US market. The
Dodge Neon turned out to be a huge success with its stylish looks, tremendous power and sporty feel. It was considered true value for money.
The initial problems faced by the car were all efficiently sorted out by the
Dodge Company with the first generation Dodge Neons itself like for instance the problems regarding the paint of the car, the air conditioning and the like. Chrysler aimed at providing the customer with a
car that was truly an owner’s pride and so worked towards making the required changes immediately.
The second generation
Neons ruled the road during the period 2000-2005. The second generation Dodge Neon was made available in the market as a four door sedan. The car with its initial problems dealt with had great looks and was a beauty on the road. It was a pleasure to drive the Dodge Neon. This
Car Model underwent a redesigning process in the year 2001 and got upgraded in the looks category. This car became the second fastest car from the
Dodge fleet.
The car came with doors which had full frames, better interiors, slightly bigger in size and was much quieter to drive. This phase saw many changes like the
Dodge Neon getting a new name in the Canada market (SX 2.0) in the year 2003. The Neon was pulled back from the Australian and Canadian markets as a result of fall in sales due to the pricing of the car being more expensive in comparison to its existing competitors. The
Dodge Neon saw an upgradation in terms of the headlights and grille.
The Neon was discontinued on the 23rd of September, 2005 with the last few cars being rolled out at the Belvidere Assembly plant at Belvidere, Illinois. A few
cars were sold in the first half of the year 2006 and thus, the rule of the Neon came to an end giving way to the superior Dodge Caliber.
