All About Hummer
Hummer is recognized as a brand dealing in big SUVs (H2, H3, H4) (sport-utility vehicles) and H1 (off-road vehicles). General Motors or GM is involved in the manufacturing and selling of Hummer car models
. The design of a Hummer is similar to military HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle). Hummer car
has high fuel consumptions and is amongst the largest 4x4 types.
AM General Corporation were the original manufacturers of Hummers at their assembly plant of Indiana. In early 90s, couple of white Hummers

In the next couple of years, AM General came up with the civilian version of M998 HMMWV (High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle) vehicle for the public with the name ‘Hummer’
. After six years of the launch of Hummer, AM sold it to the General Motors. However, they continued its manufacturing. GM then became responsible towards the distribution and marketing of the Hummer

In the following years, GM came up with H2, H3 & H4 renaming the first version of Hummer car model
as H1. AM General still manufactures H1 and GM has contracted them for producing H2. H3 & H4 are manufactured in LA. H1 is an excellent off-road vehicle whereas the newer version H2, H3 & H4 are functioned as SUVs.
From previous year (2006), Hummer opted for going global with chosen distributors and importers in Europe and most other markets. The Hummer H3 Plant in the Port Elizabeth City of South Africa is used for distribution in the global markets. Local consumption of South Africa, Europe, Middle East, Australia and Japan are covered by the Hummer H3 produced by the plant. Hummer model
H3 is the version that is globally recognized by most countries as the best of all the four released by the organization so far. According to the figures that were collected on October 2006, all vehicles of Hummer car
were marketed in over 34 countries by more than 300 dealers. Of the 300 dealers of Hummer, 173 belong to the United States.
Avtotor of Russia also assembles Hummer H2
. They started it around June 2004. There is an annual assembling of around a thousand Hummer H2 vehicles. The output of the plant is narrowed to the local consumption only with only five dealers of Russia showing keen interest in the distribution.
During the May month of 2006, General Motors announced that they would cease the production of the original Hummer H1. CEO of GM Rick Wagoner declared that the Hummer trucks will be driven on the Biofuel Power trains during International Auto Show in Los Angeles last year. With the continuous demand of H2, H3 and H4, Hummer
will be dominating the SUV and off-road vehicle market around the globe.
