Information on Isuzu
suzu Motors is a commercial vehicles and heavy trucks manufacturing Japanese company having their headquarters in Tokyo. During 2005, Isuzu
became the largest manufacturer in the world when it came to heavy duty to medium trucks. The manufacturing and assembling plant of Isuzu vehicles
are in Fujisawa (a Japanese City). These units are also present in prefectures of Hokkaido and Tochigi.
Isuzu is recognized for producing diesel engines and commercial vehicles. It manufactured around 16 million engines (diesel) during 2003 alone. Most of their diesel engines are available in the vehicles all across the globe.
In most regions of Europe, Asia and Africa, Isuzu is mainly recognized for their trucks coming in different sizes. Initially when Isuzu Motors
came up with their small automobiles, their sales drastically plunged. Henceforth, they dropped all sales of Isuzu compact car models
and sedans during the late 90s.
In the US, Isuzu
is mainly recognized for producing rebadged models from different other companies. Isuzu i-290 and many other brands have been rebadged as Isuzu Ascender. Presently, these are the only compact Isuzu models
available in the country.
As an organization, Isuzu always has been mainly a producer of compact automobiles that are small to medium and commercialized trucks ranging in size from medium duty to larger. Isuzu
also provides rental trucks. The production of Isuzu rental trucks are in the hands of Budget Truck Rental, who are in a contract with Isuzu Motors for the manufacturing. The contract of Isuzu
rental trucks is shared between Budget Truck Rental, Ford, Navistar International and GMC.
The dealers of Isuzu dealers in US have the facility of only two different Isuzu models
to market, the i-series and the Ascender.
Ascender is the rebadged version of a GM vehicle that differs with Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier and Oldsmobile Bravada only through its cosmetic configuration.
The Isuzu i-series
truck is the rebadged edition of the pickup trucks that were bought to the market by GMC (Canyon) and Chevrolet (Colorado).
The designing of both the Isuzu
rebadged version is done by three of the giants of automobile industry. North American Operation of GM, Isuzu and GM do Brasil are up with the task of designing the two pickup trucks along with Isuzu and GM supplying the chassis and drivetrain respectively.
There are 360 dealers of Isuzu Motors
in US. These dealers are responsible for an average sell of only two Ascenders per month per dealer. Isuzu Motors are planning for introducing a new SUV built in Thailand from improving their hold in US market. These new SUV is expected to hit the US market during the early part of 2007. Isuzu Family
is shelved with matters of designing standards for tariff restraints and importing.
There are rumours that Isuzu will withdraw their vehicle from the automotive market of U.S. as they are giving very low sales figure. However, Isuzu Family
has denied and informed that the company is making profit from the market despite low figures of sales due to sales of commercialized trucks.
